The development of the DonateAce app was a five-month journey of innovation, persistence, and learning. Using Android Studio, our team set out to create an app that would seamlessly connect donors with local shelters in need. We went door to door in our communities to expand the marketing of our app, and we leased to those interested, which included family, friends, and people in our communities. Along the way, we encountered numerous challenges, including complex technical issues that required us to push beyond our knowledge and find creative solutions.

 

        Despite these obstacles, our commitment to building a functional and impactful platform never wavered. The DonateAce app features a thoughtfully designed user interface, comprising four main screens to guide donors through the process. The journey begins with a secure main login screen, where users can access their accounts. Next, the donation selection screen allows donors to specify what items they wish to contribute. To ensure that donations are both relevant and impactful, our filter screen enables users to narrow down options by nearby locations and specific items.

 

       Finally, the shelter match and submission screen displays the shelters that align with the donor's criteria, with a submit button to finalize the donation request. Each of these screens was crafted with the user in mind, ensuring a smooth, intuitive experience that maximizes the effectiveness of every donation. The development of the DonateAce app reflects our dedication to making giving easier and more meaningful, even in the face of technical challenges.
